Selecting Photos for Just Nudism from NaturallySuited's blog

This is the second post in my series of blogs (musings) on “Tips for Publishing Photos on Just Nudism”.  These are based on my own observations and experiences and should not be construed as an “official” treatment of the subjects.

Please, only post “good” photos.  I know, good is in the eye of the beholder.  In my opinion, good photos should have some basic qualities.

1) Photo subject should be in focus

2) Subject is well lit

3) Photo is not too light or too dark

Photos at the “the next level” will have these qualities, too.

4) Photo has good composition - subject placement, no background distractions, rule of thirds, leading lines, depth of field, etc.

5) Photo has been post-processed - cropped, white balance, saturation, etc.  These techniques can make a good photo into a great photo.  Professionals do it all the time.  With simple tools available on most smartphones, there is no reason you should not also use them to really make your photos pop.

I will discuss these principles and techniques in detail in my next blog.

Be brutally honest with yourself.  Is the quality of the photo good enough to keep, much less share?   General consensus is the average phone camera photographer might get 1 out of 10 “keepers” and 1 out of 100 truly exceptional photos out of every one taken.  Have pity on other Just Nudism members.  Cull your photos next time you are  tempted to dump 10, 15 or 25 photos on us at one time.  Take time to determine if the photo(s) are really good .  Think about why a particular picture is worth sharing with other members.  Finally, think about what the quality of the photo would be if it showed the subjects clothed.  If it would be a bad photo with clothes on, it is not going to get any better by taking away the clothes.

Comment / caption on your photo when you post.  Once you have decided to share a really good photo with us, give us some context for the photo.  Comments about where, when and why it was taken?  What makes it meaningful to you?  Pithy comments with a touch of humor can make a good photo even better.

Please, only one selfie photo.  I mean selfie by any technique - arm length, selfie stick,  bathroom mirror, or any of the other myriad ways to capture me, myself and I.  Pick the best one and share it.  Keep (or discard) the rest.

Nudism versus Eroticism.  Ok, I know strictly speaking there can be very good erotic photos.  But, Just Nudism is not the place to post erotic, no matter how good.  As a minimum we need to abide by the Just Nudism Photo Guidelines.

But, what are the elements of an ideal Just Nudism photo?  In my opinion, it is a “good photo" (see description above) portraying people simply interacting and living their lives in a natural way, much as a photo containing clothed people would.

While nudist certainly enjoy sex (well, maybe I should just speak for myself), this is not the place to share images of sexual contact.  Beyond sexual contact, there can be other elements that push a photo from “Just Nudism” to “Just Eroticism”.  For example, a subject posed on a bed (or in a bedroom) in a provocative pose; a subject with a lascivious and luring facial expression; or a subject posed with the primary focus of exposing the anus or genitals are all crossing the (wide) gray line between simple nudity and eroticism. Ultimately nudist or erotic depends on the intent of the photographer - is the photo's intent to enlighten or is the intent to arouse.  Let’s not “push-the-boundaries”. Strive to post photos clearly portraying healthy and happy nudist living.

Finally, please only post your own photos.  We all have computers with browsers that can find any kind of naked image desired.  You don’t need to share your gathered collection(s) with us.  Only post original photos of yourself (or others) enjoying the nudist life.  We will all be better for it.

That’s it for this blog.  Stay tuned for my next blog on photos: Taking Better Nude Pictures.

Until next time, Stay Safe and Stay Nude.
